Or it could be that bad...

Well our little plan got buggered yesterday afternoon. We had a nice drive down to the city, stopping for a bit of shopping along the way and it was lovely. Then we got to our "Inn" and though the building itself was ok, the other lodgers gave the place the feel of a halfway house. Now I know we shouldn't make quick judgements like that but in close quarters with everything we own, we decided to seek out another place. So we fibbed that we had set up one other place to look at and then drove a couple blocks and pulled out the laptop to see what we could find. Eventually we located a hostel that's on Mt. Eden (a dormant volcano in the Auckland area) with a great view and free internet. So another 5 nights here and then we'll be sorted. It was fairly quiet last night so we'll just have to take it day to day.

We go to our comedy show taping tomorrow so we plan to spend the day in the city. It's supposed to be sunny so that's just perfect. But our next project is getting a car hire for southwest Australia. We were going full steam on sorting it last month and then other things took priority and alas we look today to find that prices have gone up for the rental period, about a $16 a day increase for the one we had in mind! Darn! So we're scrambling today and tomorrow to hopefully book something for a decent price and then, we'll hopefully have the main details all done up. Funny how if we were spending 2 weeks somewhere we'd probably book in all the needs right when we planned the trip but there's so many details to watch that it's too trying to do it all in one sitting.

Well free internet and free time means I'm going to be posting some photos finally! So watch for those!

Taranaki Rugby!

Some photos from the game on Saturday afternoon. The wind caused a few wayward kicks and the torrential downpour mid-game made the ball slip all over the place but then the sun came out and Taranaki won! They were playing Canterbury who are now behind them by one place in the rankings. We had fun and managed to walk there and back without catching any of the rain. The steam-breathing drivable mascot I don't think the photo does justice to just how much it was raining! Line out Go the 'Naki! (They are the yellow and black team.)

Not for the squeamish

Well the long hours of work and planning and helping friends demo sheds and paper shuffling and biking and cooking and eating and cleaning have caught up with us and Dustin has relinquished his right to tell his story from last week. **Note, the pictures are gross so beware if you are a little faint seeing blood... So, last Friday I had worked the early shift and was back at home on a call with a virtual assisting client, so naturally my mobile was on silent, and as soon as I hung up, the home phone rang. (This is a phone that only people who have had a part in giving birth to one of us tend to use... that and wrong numbers, we get a surprising number of wrong numbers...) Anyways when Dustin's voice was on the other end the confusion began. "Hi, I'm at the hospital. Come here now." "What happened??" "I'm fine. Just come up here." (Wheels spinning in my head...) "Are you sure? I think it will take me too long to bike because I
