The chicken or the egg.

I'm not much on words today - not because we partied it up last night (unless by "party it up" you might picture Dustin falling asleep on the couch around 6:45pm and me weeding the garden and then both of us wanting to watch a movie and realizing there are dozens of movies from this past year that we haven't seen, or even heard of, and watching trailers for about half an hour to decide which one to watch) - but I'm not much on words due to a general fatigue that's been plaguing us lately. Whether we're working, or off over Christmas, we just seem to go go go lately and after another day off we are both exhausted.

So here are some pictures and stories from lately.

This is our room a week and a half ago. Wallpaper down.

This is what Dustin did while I was eating sausages and drinking beer.

I did bring home a box of meat that day though! My work got us each one from a local farm, Green Meadows Beef.

We took the gib down because it was old and crappy.

Not too crappy for this bird to make it his home until he shrivelled into a crisp.

Insulation! An excellent reason to have ripped down the gib. Our room is going to be so warm! And the wall cavities will be free of bird nests.

Last Friday we gibbed the room. I actually had to look at the calendar to see how long ago we started the room. It's actually a much shorter time span than it feels like! Which might explain the fatigue. We are still aiming for it to be complete by the end of January. We definitely have all the supplies we need - after a 4 hour shopping trip at the hardware store on boxing day. But we came home with $310 in gift cards so it was time well spent...

Our new toy. But the colour on the test patch is not what we'll be going with. Phew, good thing we tested it. The colour we have chosen is called "Silver Shadow" which, with that name, is either a superhero colour or a 60+ years old colour.

Old, small closet.

New, improved double door closet!! Wait until you see the organizer we're putting in this baby.

The chicken run in action.

Our fourth egg. This one is the largest yet!

Up close and birdsonal.

So a happy new year to you folks! You don't have to worry about Y2K any more. Even though by now most of you have drunk a champagne, had a pash and sung auld lang syne. But we just wanted to tell you from the future that all is well in 2014.

Taranaki Rugby!

Some photos from the game on Saturday afternoon. The wind caused a few wayward kicks and the torrential downpour mid-game made the ball slip all over the place but then the sun came out and Taranaki won! They were playing Canterbury who are now behind them by one place in the rankings. We had fun and managed to walk there and back without catching any of the rain. The steam-breathing drivable mascot I don't think the photo does justice to just how much it was raining! Line out Go the 'Naki! (They are the yellow and black team.)

Not for the squeamish

Well the long hours of work and planning and helping friends demo sheds and paper shuffling and biking and cooking and eating and cleaning have caught up with us and Dustin has relinquished his right to tell his story from last week. **Note, the pictures are gross so beware if you are a little faint seeing blood... So, last Friday I had worked the early shift and was back at home on a call with a virtual assisting client, so naturally my mobile was on silent, and as soon as I hung up, the home phone rang. (This is a phone that only people who have had a part in giving birth to one of us tend to use... that and wrong numbers, we get a surprising number of wrong numbers...) Anyways when Dustin's voice was on the other end the confusion began. "Hi, I'm at the hospital. Come here now." "What happened??" "I'm fine. Just come up here." (Wheels spinning in my head...) "Are you sure? I think it will take me too long to bike because I
