So a rock wearing a top hat walks into a bar...

After many re-tries to avoid any copyright content matches, here is my video... ok so there will be some overlap because for a while we both had the same ideas and then Dustin wanted shorter and I wanted longer. So check it out!

We've just got back from 4 nights inland around the volcano region of the central North Island. It was action packed with sightseeing, a rodeo, sailing on Lake Taupo, a hike, and a whole lot of driving. I swear it took us like 4.5 hours each way to do what Google said was a 3 hour drive!

I realized we sure picked a good city to live in because going to the tourist zone was so busy and we're so glad that our little city is somewhat off the beaten track. But the tourist zone wasn't all bad... Dustin lost his wallet at the rodeo but we didn't realize until we had driven back to town that afternoon so we turned around back to scour the rodeo grounds right away. After ten minutes of no luck in the hunt, I called the police station to leave his name in case it got turned in and they already had it! It was maybe 30 minutes between losing it and when I rang so very good news to locate it quickly and of course everything was intact. Phew!

No big plans for new year's eve yet, but that's pretty standard for us as we aren't that into it. Will certainly miss the usual games night with friends though! And just the friends ;)

Here are some snaps from the mini-getaway...

Craters on the Moon - thermal area!

They like it hot hot hot

Just like that Luke Perry movie 8 Seconds

The wallet was used to prop up the camera on the car for this shot...

Some pretty amazing rock carvings on Lake Taupo

Their boat was so much less crowded than ours!

Even a rock likes to put on the ritz from time to time!

Not yet feeling refreshed from the time off so far, but hope to veg around this week and relax some more!

Happy New Year everyone!

Taranaki Rugby!

Some photos from the game on Saturday afternoon. The wind caused a few wayward kicks and the torrential downpour mid-game made the ball slip all over the place but then the sun came out and Taranaki won! They were playing Canterbury who are now behind them by one place in the rankings. We had fun and managed to walk there and back without catching any of the rain. The steam-breathing drivable mascot I don't think the photo does justice to just how much it was raining! Line out Go the 'Naki! (They are the yellow and black team.)

Not for the squeamish

Well the long hours of work and planning and helping friends demo sheds and paper shuffling and biking and cooking and eating and cleaning have caught up with us and Dustin has relinquished his right to tell his story from last week. **Note, the pictures are gross so beware if you are a little faint seeing blood... So, last Friday I had worked the early shift and was back at home on a call with a virtual assisting client, so naturally my mobile was on silent, and as soon as I hung up, the home phone rang. (This is a phone that only people who have had a part in giving birth to one of us tend to use... that and wrong numbers, we get a surprising number of wrong numbers...) Anyways when Dustin's voice was on the other end the confusion began. "Hi, I'm at the hospital. Come here now." "What happened??" "I'm fine. Just come up here." (Wheels spinning in my head...) "Are you sure? I think it will take me too long to bike because I
