Our new house...

Ok, it's not where we are living but it's a new house for the chickens that will be the first animals we have owned together. We still need to put in a perch, and enclose one edge of the run but other than that we're ready for some chooks! Actually, we still need to figure out what to feed them and maybe get a water bottle for them too, so ok, not quite ready.

Dustin designed and built it himself (mostly, I did help though!)

I promise that you will see our house soon. We are working on a video and it's in post-production at the moment but you'll see it soon.

We've started to rip apart the bedroom, literally. We pulled the wallpaper off and found that some of the gib was in poor condition or you could see the strands on the surface and it wouldn't have been a good finish. Since the time we would have paid for to have a plasterer skim coat the whole thing would have been nearly as much as new gib, we decided on new gib instead. So Dustin started taking down the old stuff yesterday after work. We both had last day BBQ's at work but they were wrapped up at like 3pm and mine was still going at about 6pm. So this weekend we'll both work on the demo and the gib is being delivered today so we'll be well underway an actual reno. We moved our bed into the guest room so we hope it should only be a few weeks before we can move back in. (And that's because we'll both be working the non-stat days and we'll still need a plasterer to mud the drywall and we may not be able to get one until after the new year anyways. Plus we don't want to spend every day off working on it!)

We might be going with a blue/green colour - we have a test pot to see. I was pushing for teal but it might be a bit bold so we've gone somewhat close to that colour.

Anyways, I just wanted to post a quick update because I've been neglecting you dear old blog readers.
I should get going soon too because the Christmas rush is on and if I get the grocery store soon maybe I can dodge it. Traffic has gone crazy with trips that used to take 4-6 minutes taking 15 now! But it'll only be a few more days of that I reckon. Plus I am making a cake this weekend for a friend's birthday party on Monday night. So things to do, places to go... you take care and there will be more soon!

Taranaki Rugby!

Some photos from the game on Saturday afternoon. The wind caused a few wayward kicks and the torrential downpour mid-game made the ball slip all over the place but then the sun came out and Taranaki won! They were playing Canterbury who are now behind them by one place in the rankings. We had fun and managed to walk there and back without catching any of the rain. The steam-breathing drivable mascot I don't think the photo does justice to just how much it was raining! Line out Go the 'Naki! (They are the yellow and black team.)

Not for the squeamish

Well the long hours of work and planning and helping friends demo sheds and paper shuffling and biking and cooking and eating and cleaning have caught up with us and Dustin has relinquished his right to tell his story from last week. **Note, the pictures are gross so beware if you are a little faint seeing blood... So, last Friday I had worked the early shift and was back at home on a call with a virtual assisting client, so naturally my mobile was on silent, and as soon as I hung up, the home phone rang. (This is a phone that only people who have had a part in giving birth to one of us tend to use... that and wrong numbers, we get a surprising number of wrong numbers...) Anyways when Dustin's voice was on the other end the confusion began. "Hi, I'm at the hospital. Come here now." "What happened??" "I'm fine. Just come up here." (Wheels spinning in my head...) "Are you sure? I think it will take me too long to bike because I
