Dancing all night?

For the first time in I can't even guess how long we went out on the town, specifically to go dancing. After a comedy show of course, otherwise how in the heck would we be able to stay up late enough for the clubs to be open?

The comedy show was a bit of miss due to terrible audience members. How terrible? Well, when a group was told to be quiet their response was, "What is this, a library?"

No. But it's a place where about 95 other people have paid money for someone to make them laugh. And not to watch them be distracted by you talking to your friends.

Unbelievable.

Anyways, the show ended earlier than expected (thanks again sucky audience!) so even at about 10:30pm on a Saturday night, things were very quiet. Luckily we had an 18-year old friend with us to navigate the evening. We checked out all the options and then stuck around at the one where there was more than a dozen people and got hooked. Ok, only I got hooked. I forgot how fun it is to go out dancing. And the DJ was all over the mid to late 90's hip-hop and r&b. Classic throwbacks.

But it sure is different going out just to dance, rather than to "be cool" or be the wing-lady for friends. You watch the crowd and observe a lot more than when you are there all self-conscious and unsure.

Suffice it to say, I was dragged away earlier than my energy stores would have run out. So, I decided that it was time to post since it's been a while!

That while has been full of home dis-organization, work angst, electricians working on our ceiling fan until 9:30pm, even more home dis-organization, renovation progress, the first softball game of the season and garden madness. Including possible potato blight. What!?

This weekend though has (I sure hope at least!!) begun a phase of slow-down. We just have to trim the blinds and clean up the bits and pieces of the bedroom, then put together the closet organizer in preparation for carpet being installed this week. Then we get to move back in on Thursday, which is a public holiday so that's perfect. Next weekend we are camping and stuffing our gobs at the kai festival in Kawhia.

So we won't get to fully live in the bedroom for just over a week but then it'll be back on track! And time to sort out the other rooms and some heating for the house before winter.

Though we think summer has just arrived so we are really getting a jump on it. Which is fine by us so that it's done and dusted.

Anyway crew, I do have pictures of stories of oh so many things but at the moment more stories than time. And with a laundry basket full of lemons to deal with, I might be in the kitchen for a while tomorrow - hello lemoncello, lemonade and lemon bars! Any other suggestions on making the most of our bounty?

We are well and hope to be sharing more soon, definitely a tour of the new room. But one room doesn't necessitate an entire "tour" does it?

Taranaki Rugby!

Some photos from the game on Saturday afternoon. The wind caused a few wayward kicks and the torrential downpour mid-game made the ball slip all over the place but then the sun came out and Taranaki won! They were playing Canterbury who are now behind them by one place in the rankings. We had fun and managed to walk there and back without catching any of the rain. The steam-breathing drivable mascot I don't think the photo does justice to just how much it was raining! Line out Go the 'Naki! (They are the yellow and black team.)

Not for the squeamish

Well the long hours of work and planning and helping friends demo sheds and paper shuffling and biking and cooking and eating and cleaning have caught up with us and Dustin has relinquished his right to tell his story from last week. **Note, the pictures are gross so beware if you are a little faint seeing blood... So, last Friday I had worked the early shift and was back at home on a call with a virtual assisting client, so naturally my mobile was on silent, and as soon as I hung up, the home phone rang. (This is a phone that only people who have had a part in giving birth to one of us tend to use... that and wrong numbers, we get a surprising number of wrong numbers...) Anyways when Dustin's voice was on the other end the confusion began. "Hi, I'm at the hospital. Come here now." "What happened??" "I'm fine. Just come up here." (Wheels spinning in my head...) "Are you sure? I think it will take me too long to bike because I
