I'm a little late...

Gosh I've been absent from you lovely people! Many apologies!

I will try to sum up the nearly two-month gap since my last post in words and images. Here we go...

  • Ants! Too many ants eating our window sill! The first fumigation I've ever experienced helped fix that though.

  • Bacon beer?! It was sweet and smokey and we ate it with pizza which made them both very much better.

  • Work continues to keep us both very, very busy. Dustin is building 6 houses. I am holding the fort down at the office.

  • Long weekends.

  • Donating blood and subsequent emergency room visit in the wee hours of the night. It was just low blood pressure. Phew.

  • Taranaki did it! Yep, we won the final!

  • Spring time flu :( I was down for 4 whole days with it. I did catch up on my Nashville though. Which is a shame because it means now I have to wait week-to-week instead of binge watching. But that, in turn, has opened up an evening to update the ol' blog :)

  • Dustin transformed the backyard with a little Halloween demolition. Sadly it didn't leave time to trick-or-treat.

  • Planting the veggie garden! I've scaled back a bit and put in some brick walkways (thanks to a few brick scraps laying around from somewhere...) but I may have misjudged the layout and the watermelons might not happen...

  • The chickens continue to egg-tertain us. Oh that's not even very punny but I'm leaving it there.

  • We're hoping like hell that this means we get some limes this year! We have plenty of lemons so just need a little green citrus to match. I have a garden full of mint just asking to be a mojito.

  • Dustin has joined a local beer club and they might be working on organizing a local craft brew fest in the new year!

  • We occasionally have a craving for some North American candy which we indulged this time. In true American style, these are "Easy to Eat!" which is helpful. It can be difficult.

  • We have sold our station wagon and picked up a little hatchback run-around. We just picked it up this week. So at the moment that means there are 3 vehicles here until the buyer picks up the wagon. Talk about excess!
So, obviously the silly season is now here and hopefully that means some BBQ's (check - this Saturday), some sunshine, and lots and lots of visiting and some time off! Woo! We might even get around to making a video this year too. What would you want to see?

Until next time dear readers, missing you and sending big hugs!

Taranaki Rugby!

Some photos from the game on Saturday afternoon. The wind caused a few wayward kicks and the torrential downpour mid-game made the ball slip all over the place but then the sun came out and Taranaki won! They were playing Canterbury who are now behind them by one place in the rankings. We had fun and managed to walk there and back without catching any of the rain. The steam-breathing drivable mascot I don't think the photo does justice to just how much it was raining! Line out Go the 'Naki! (They are the yellow and black team.)

Not for the squeamish

Well the long hours of work and planning and helping friends demo sheds and paper shuffling and biking and cooking and eating and cleaning have caught up with us and Dustin has relinquished his right to tell his story from last week. **Note, the pictures are gross so beware if you are a little faint seeing blood... So, last Friday I had worked the early shift and was back at home on a call with a virtual assisting client, so naturally my mobile was on silent, and as soon as I hung up, the home phone rang. (This is a phone that only people who have had a part in giving birth to one of us tend to use... that and wrong numbers, we get a surprising number of wrong numbers...) Anyways when Dustin's voice was on the other end the confusion began. "Hi, I'm at the hospital. Come here now." "What happened??" "I'm fine. Just come up here." (Wheels spinning in my head...) "Are you sure? I think it will take me too long to bike because I
